Gatlinburg, Tennessee is fun for people of all ages.
One of my favorite things that we did was play mini golf. We played the Hillbilly Golf course, which was on the side of a mountain. We had to ride up in a cart to get to the top of the course and it was so much fun. On one of the holes, I scored my very first hole in one! The holes were all different – some were plain old holes and some had wagons, tractors, and other things. There were a couple of holes that you hit your ball into something, and it comes out from a tube after you walk down a few steps to a lower level.
The shops are really cool. There is a candy store called Ole Smoky Candy Kitchen. Through the window you get to watch the manager make taffy. While we were there he was making mint taffy. He gave us a free sample as it came off the machine. My daddy even bought me some fudge. It was delicious.
My mom wanted us to take an old time photo, but it was too expensive. She kept saying it over and over and over again. We must have seen thousands of old time photo stores. Maybe we’ll do it next time.
Doc’s Magic Shop was amazing. You walked in and there were lots of magic tricks on the walls. There is a magician there that you can ask to perform a specific magic trick and he’ll do it. One of the tricks I liked was him turning a bubble into a ball. My favorite trick was – there were two containers, a small one and a big one. He would have the big one and you would have the small one. You would have a die and turn it so that any number you wanted faced up. You would close the lid of the container and give it to him. He would put it in the big container and then out of nowhere guess which number you put up.
Gatlinburg is so much fun and filled with wonderful things. I encourage you to go there.
